We partner with organizations in the Pacific Northwest to improve outdoor recreation and promote environmental stewardship. Join us to help build community and keep our beautiful region clean!
What: We will be doing a combination of mulching, blackberry and other invasive plant removal, planting, and/or other work to restore native habitat with Portland Parks & Recreation (PP&R).
Where: Whitaker Ponds Nature Park. Meet at 7040 NE 47th Ave, Portland, OR 97218. Please arrive on time so we can walk together to the work site from the parking area. These are the traditional lands of the Multnomah, Clackamas, Cowlitz, and Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde, along with many other tribes who lived along the Columbia River.
When: Tuesday, July 27, 2:00-4:00pm.
What to Bring: Face masks are OPTIONAL for this event. Please bring closed toed shoes, water, face covering/mask (optional), personal hand sanitizer, and work gloves if you have them. Gloves can be provided for those that do not already have them. Be prepared for changing weather conditions and consider bringing a jacket and hat or sunglasses for sun protection.

Restrooms: There is a porta-potty onsite.
Accessibility: Unfortunately there are no paved pathways at this site.
Safety: Volunteers are asked to abide by COVID-19 safety precautions - wear a mask (optional), maintain a 3-foot distance between yourself and others, and sanitize your hands. Maximum number of volunteers at this site is 15 people.
Questions: Please contact Valerie at [email protected] if you have questions or special requests (e.g. group sign-up, etc.).
Registration Process: Due to COVID-19 safety protocols, space is limited and pre-registration is required! NWOBS will send an email prior to the event to confirm your registration.
Step 2: Print and *hand sign* the NWOBS Liability Release and bring it with you the day-of. We will have forms available onsite for those unable to print ahead of time.
Step 3: Fill out the PP&R Liability Form before the event (if you have already completed the form once at any other PP&R activity, you don’t need to fill it out again).
Step 4: For the safety of everyone involved, we ask that you please take this Health Assessment Survey the day before or the day of the event. It is an anonymous form and it helps to make sure we are all healthy and staying home if we have any symptoms. If you or anyone in your household has any COVID-19 symptoms, or if you are otherwise feeling sick, please stay home.
We look forward to seeing you there!
