An evening of community building and celebration in support of the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs and Northwest Outward Bound School Tribal Youth Program.
We were honored to have the dancers from the 'Nchí Wanapum Canoe Family attend this event to perform and inspire us. What a cultural gift from this extraordinary organization.
About the 'Nchi Wanapum Canoe Family
'Nchi Wanapum Canoe Family is for Native American youth of the Warm Springs Indian Reservation to connect with, interact, and bond with elders to inspire.
Raffle Drawing
Our friends from Warm Springs Horse Network Mustang Rescue generously donated a spectacular 4-person overnight cultural adventure as our raffle drawing prize.
This package offered a rare opportunity to experience the natural landscape and wildlife on the historic tribal lands of the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs with award-winning photographer and tribal member, Edward Heath.
In 2018, the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs and the Northwest Outward Bound School partnership was established to build culturally relevant programs in Central Oregon for youth of the Warm Springs, Wasco and Paiute tribes. All participating tribal youth receive fully-funded scholarships, beginning with rafting courses on the Deschutes River, and expanding to other programs of interest. In collaboration with leaders in the tribal community, this program creates tribal specific courses, incorporating significant aspects of the Warm Springs culture and history with Northwest Outward bound School outdoor education and leadership skill development. The goal is to inspire youth to connect with tribal lands, igniting their interest in the outdoors and creating a pathway to outdoor education, advocacy or industry.
